" The room is huge and the walls are built tall. A large chandelier hangs from the ceiling. Shiny crystals attached to one another. The air is crisp but the room is still warm. A soft furry carpet covering the cold floor, it's white with a large black spiral in the centre. Black leather couches and comfy bean bags surrounds a wooden table. The legs of the table curved outwards, carved with amazing designs. The designs dance around all four legs each telling a story. Wooden shelves covering all walls, the walls they can no longer be seen. Books, and books fill the shelves up but they are still hungry for more. Every book one can desire stands straight on a shelf in the room. It's quiet but not silent as soft music fills the large space. A child sits upon one of the couches and smiles at something in her hand. It's a book, a small book but the words I cannot see. My eyes open I was sleeping, dreaming of my dream library."

She is turning twelve and makes two wish lists. One is for smaller things and the other is for the big things she wants. There's also a movie being filmed at her school. Rory auditioned along with other people from her school. The stuff she got from the wish list she realized she doesn't need it or want it. Also, she thinks that family and friends are better then phones and toys. That is why Roy is my favourite character."

" My favourite characters were Hansel and Gretel , from the Hansel and Gretel book. The author of this book are the Brothers Grimm. In this story 2 brother and sister live with their step mother and father. In the beginning their family are very poor and their step mother get's this idea of abandoning the kids in the forest because their is no money for food. The children smart enough leave a trail of bread crumbs. However when night falls the trail has disappeared , the birds ate it. So, they walked deeper into the forest until they come to a house made of cookies and candy. A witch then lures them inside with more candy and locks Hansel in a cage. Then she sets Gretel to do the housework. One day, the witch decides it's time to cook Hansel. She tells Gretel to heat up the oven but, Gretel smart enough ask's the witch to check if it's warm enough. As soon as the witch sticks her head in the oven Gretel pushes the witch into the oven and shuts the door. After that she unlocks her brother's cage. Then they open up the chests and stuff some jewels and gold with them and go home, being rich. I loved this book as a child because a candy made house was a dream come true story for me. I liked Hansel and Gretel for their smartness, cleverness and quick thinking. If it had not been for Gretel being brave Hansel would have been cooked in the oven and gone forever."

My dream library would have a popcorn maker so then you could take popcorn and read books but they would only be allowed one bag at a time so that they don't get butter all over the books. My dream library would have adventure and romance. Every month there would be a theme to dress up like something, so say one month we would dress like pirates, the next we would dress like princesses; well the girls would the boys would dress like princes but you don't have to dress up if you don't want to. "Currently I am reading a book called “Wonder,” author: R.J. Palacio. So far, I think it’s my favourite book now. My favourite character is Summer. Summer Dawson is a girl who is loyal, mature, and compassionate. There was a new student in her school, August Pullman, who had physical disorders, which lead the other students not to talk to him, sit with him during lunch, gossiping about him etc. One day, Summer saw August sitting by himself and heard the others gossip about him, she felt bad for him so she decided to go to August’s lunch table and sit with him. She was very friendly and brave enough to go to his table group, and she didn’t have any concerns of whether anyone is gossiping or not about them. When it was Halloween, August dressed up and no one knew who he was because he changed his costume, and overheard Jack Will whining about what Mr. Tushman obligated him to for August. After that he suspected the Summer was obligated the same job as Jack Will, and August turned out to be wrong about it and they pinky swore that he’ll never question about her loyalty. I really like how Summer is very compassionate about her friendship and tries to maintain it."

His story is very sad, but he has perseverance. Jess and his best friend Leslie Burkes, create an Imaginary Kingdom called "Terabithia".They played their, had good times, and spent some of their best memories together in Terabithia. It was basically a place to escape reality and be free. One day Jess got invited to an art museum, he also was a very talented artist. He accepted the invitation without notifying Leslie. A bored Leslie, she had nothing to do without Jess. She decides to Explore the land of Terabithia by herself. She died trying to cross the rope swing across to the platform. Jess was in shock with the death. He had no choice at that time, but to accept the Death. He handled it great without fear. He was really strong, outrageous, and persevered for his age (10). That is why he was my favourite book character."

Who is your favourite character from a children's book and why?

" My favorite character from a children's book is Harry Potter due its extremely complex character that deals with every adolescent emotion such as death, love, hate, jealousy, depression, loneliness and new/old friendships.

His character relates to everybody both young and old. His actions and emotions tends to draw the reader in, wanting to become part of his world, waiting for his next move and leaves the reader wondering what will happen next or should happen next.

At the same time, I like that Harry Potter is an underdog and tries his best to be a better person despite all the odds against him. As reader I'm rooting for him to overcome his struggles and emotions for a better future. The character continues to draw me in deeper and deeper as I get to know him better with each book. I love the book series and movies! The books are so detailed that I can imagine the scenes coming to life.

I remember when we first had a library, it wasn't much but it was 4 shelves filled to the top with books. There are a lot of people at my school that enjoy reading and we are running out of new books to read. I remember when we received new books last year and how excited everyone was. It would be nice to see that again.

"My story revolves around my belief that rich reading is the right that every child everywhere should have. Reading is the way to find out who you are and indeed, the path to finding out who you may become. Every person has a story within themselves and that story is enhanced when we can open our minds and hearts to the stories of others. Three books that embrace this belief are The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo, The Littlest Matryoshka by Corinne Demas and The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore by William Joyce. These books speak to the belonging that can be found within the pages of a book, a belonging that we can draw upon in all times of our lives. I think that books are essential - the very crux of education and a lifetime of learning. Every child belongs in the 'club'. Every child deserves quality reading material for the myriad of gifts books bestow--knowledge, perception, compassion, satisfaction of curio usity and above all, the wonder of imagination. So, my story is actually a gratitude for all the light that reading has given me. It is my wish that every child lose themselves in the words and worlds of books."

"Sprucecourt is a very special place filled with incredible students who have a passion for reading! As the teacher-librarian, I have the pleasure of watching these amazing students devour books day after day! Watching their excitement as they tell me about their latest find is priceless. It takes me back to when I was their age and going to the public library or my school library and finding that perfect book that would take me to another place. A magical, inspiring place where all my troubles faded away! "
