W.H. Ballard SchoolHamilton, Ontario 702 / 580 Books Given
Principal Mrs. Jennifer Robertson-Heath According to Ballard's Analysis Overview, 30% of our books are from the 1990's. Although, there are 50% from the 2000's, very few (10%) are published after 2010. In past years, the Ballard Library had a $0 budget and any new books on the shelves were purchased by the Librarian through Fund Raising with the Scholastic Book Fair. I have also hosted a Scholastic Book Fair for the last two years as well, raising monies from our parent community with the purchase of books for their families. Although we try to purchase new novels requested by students, especially the Junior/Intermediate age students, it is difficult to keep our shelves current. We are also still missing certain curriculum-related topics as well, e.g, Geography, History, Vehicles, and art-related books. Our students love coming to the library and reading but we are having trouble keeping up with the demand for new books and more current nonfiction titles.

I attended Ballard for Grade 7 and 8, as part of the gifted program. I have very fond memories of the library, and I still remember some of the books that I read back then. This is the least I can do to thank the school for providing a younger me with man
Encouraging children to read results in life long rewards. Our kids spent many hours in the Ballard library.
