Ramsay School

Calgary, Alberta 109 / 145 Books Given

Principal Janis Tickles Ramsay school is located in one of Calgary's oldest communities and is a beautiful 105 year old sandstone building. Ramsay School draws students from the Ramsay area, (including many renters and low income housing), the Victoria Park area, (including new immigrants and apartment complexes near the Calgary Tower)and from other districts where families choose Ramsay because of its strong sense of belonging and community. We are a very unique and diverse setting! As a small school, we have a very small budget to operate each year and only a small portion can be devoted to our library, which would not only be committed to book purchase, but also supplies etc. We thankfully received a grant three years ago which allowed us to modernize and beautify the physical space of our library and we would love to add some current, beautiful books. Our School Development Plan focuses on all of our students becoming able to read at grade level with proficiency, joy and confidence and having books available to all students is critical. We are also a Reading Place school which looks to expanding this joy of reading from the school to the homes and to the community. Our library commons is not only used by students but is open to families as well.
