St. Elizabeth Catholic SchoolEdmonton, Alberta 10 / 360 Books Given
Principal Diane Brophy St. Elizabeth is located in the northwest part of Mill Woods in Edmonton. Our school population keeps growing and includes many students who are new to Canada. About 50% of our students speak another language at home rather than English. Many of our families struggle with the challenges of raising children in single parent homes or when living on limited incomes. Our staff have been very innovative in finding new ways to meet the literacy needs of our diverse population by integrating technology into instruction and creating engaging in-class activities. In the past couple of years, outside agencies have been providing after school programming in our school to give students more active learning experiences. We are also able to offer an after school opportunity for parents to meet to improve their English. To help our students become successful, we are in need of many new books for our school library and our classroom libraries. We know that the more students read the better readers they will become.
