For 490 students there are only 13,700 books. Burford has French Immersion classes K-5 with few French text selections in the library. The average age of the Picture Book collection is 27 years. New books create an interest in reading, especially when we get to choose the books. Students and Teachers are creating lists of books that they would like to see in the library.

"My favourite memory from my elementary school library was the opportunity of picking new books to read and the book fairs. I loved reading and would go through 2-3 books a week. There was so much books to choose from that I felt that the more I read, the faster I could read them all! "

"We are Grade 3 students at Burford District Elementary School. We are participating in the Global Read Aloud right now with lots of other classrooms around the world! We are reading The BFG. Here are some things we want to say about it:
It's a book that gets your hopes up! (Jessica)
It is a funny book. (Harrison)
It is fun to read because exciting things happen. (Erika)

Here are some reasons why we think you should help us to support our library!
-So that we can have great books to read (Rachael)
-So that we have new and interesting books to read (Leah)
-So our library can be in better shape (Hayden)
-To get more history books that kids can read to learn about history (Mason)
-So more people will want to come to our school (Logan)
-So the students can get more knowledge (Ella)

Please help support our library because our school is AWESOME!"

"My favourite books from elementary school are "Witches" and "A Wrinkle in Time." My grade 3 teacher was the best at reading aloud, which inspired me to love reading and become a teacher myself. Every student should have the chance to experience this kind of passion for reading!"

"A dream for a school library is being able to connect with students based on their current likes and interests. Indigo Love Of Reading allows schools to purchase new books that do just that. Topics like computer coding, robotics and creative outlets like Minecraft all help schools to connect with kids and engage them in school. "

"My grade one teacher, Mrs. Peacock, read "Charlotte's Web" to our class. I talked about so much, my parents bought it as a birthday present for me. I still have the book 45 years later."
