Principal Al Post Cameron school is located in an area with a high number of new immigrant families. Approximately 50% of our students are learning English as a Second Language (ESL). Our high ESL numbers, coupled with a high transient rate means that teachers are constantly re-teaching what it means to be a Cameron student, and working to ensure that all students feel they belong. Cameron staff and parents agree to adding Belonging and Social Emotional Learning to our current goal of Increasing Reading Comprehension for each child. We would like to purchase books at a variety of age appropriate levels to support both these goals. A majority of our books currently in our library are a couple decades old, a new selection of books for our students to choose from would be incredible!
There are several series that are very popular across our student population.
The Land of Stories series by Chris Colfer is amazing and we would love a new set for the library.
Diary of A Wimpy Kid Series
Babysitters Club Graphic Novel Series
Amulet graphic novel series
Raina Telgemeier books (Smile, Sisters, Drama etc.)
Elephant and Piggie book series
