DalewoodSt. Catharines, Ontario 60 / 400 Books Given
Principal Jennifer Tye Our students have a love of reading which is reflected during their homeroom classes, information technology classes and by the number of students who come to the learning commons during the fitness breaks just to find a good fit book and read. Many of our students participate in the Silver Birch and Blue Spruce clubs during the year. Their enthusiasm for reading comes through in the discussions they have about the books they have read. Dalewood French Immersion Public School (gr. 1-8) was established in the fall of 2014. Previously it had been a grade 5-8 school. We are currently in the process of purchasing additional books to create an "Everybody Reads" section in our learning commons and increase our number of French books for all students. Currently the books in our library are flying off the shelves as so many students are signing them out and taking them home to read. Participation in Indigo's Adopt a School would allow us to increase the variety of our books and provide additional choices for our students.
