Arch Street Public School

Ottawa, Ontario 37 / 170 Books Given

Principal Tammy McCormack Our library plays a critical role in the teaching and learning that takes place in our school. We need to offer a wide variety of book choices for school programming. Our students deserve a welcoming up-dated library where they can find the latest and best picture books, graphic novels, and even information on their favorite sports figure. The social studies, history and geography curriculum has changed, but we have been unable to fund and replace all the resources that are needed. In order to support our large ESL and immigrant population books with simple text and dual language are required. Even though we introduce our children to the public library, most of our families do not take their children. The only exposure to books is though our school. A library needs to be enticing in order to support a lifetime love of reading.

Favourite books Our students love graphic novels, picture books and non-fiction (animals, space and history).
