Glen St P.S.Oshawa, Ontario 40 / 400 Books Given
Principal Michelle Carter
We need to update the curriculum-linked literature to support our Literacy, Math, Science and Social Studies programming.
We have renovated our Library Learning Commons and need to purge out-dated materials. It is critical that we build a collection of culturally-relevant materials and resources for our students.
Our school is in a low-socioeconomic community, where the Library Learning Commons is one of the few places that our students have access to books and learning materials.
With a growing, diverse population and high FNMI student ratio, we need to better reflect the faces of our students in our Library Learning Commons.
We have also created a Parent-Lending Library through a PRO-grant and we would like to continue to support our entire school community and some of their high-needs.

I attended this school as a child and am aware of the need in the area. I hope that adding some new books to the school library can help encourage a love of reading and introduce students to some new favourite books!
As a mother, I see the excitement my children have when they discover a new favourite book or series, and how much they learn through regular reading. Hopefully adding some new books to the Glen Street library will help students discover some new favourites and expand their knowledge!
My mom was always encouraging a love for reading. As a child we would frequent the local library and I usually had a christmas list full of books that she would try to track down.
This school is working hard to set their students up for success in life and learning. Hope the kids will enjoy their new books!
Hope the kids enjoy the new books!
This is not our area school but we are most happy to help in the update of any school library. Happy reading kids!!
