We have a growing multi-cultural population. We require books that students can take home in a variety of topics. Some students have few books in their home library and our community library is not easily accessible to our school community. Additional picture books, as well as engaging nonfiction reading materials highlighting world events, science, and how to topics would be enjoyed by many. We are building our learning commons and we have many wonderfully curious students seeking out how to build various structures. Thank you for your support.

What is your favourite memory from your elementary school library and why?

"One of my favourite memories from my elementary school library was going through the stacks at the back where the "old" books were and borrowing titles that hadn't been signed out in a very long time. The library still used paper sign out slips, so you could see the dates books were borrowed, and I used to think of it as a bit of a treasure hunt to find the most neglected titles and take them home. I think part of me did it for the books as much as for myself. I wanted to read words that revealed forgotten knowledge or stories, both so I could learn their secrets, and so I could make those words feel powerful again. Because of my school library, I learned to value words, new and old. They in turn have shaped who I have become and I am eternally grateful! "

"I am supporting this school because I am invested in the children who attend here. I work with the school and see these children everyday. I remember the library being a haven as a child in elementary school. I want this safe feeling for all children who attend."
