Advocate District School

Advocate Harbour, Nova Scotia 112 / 54 Books Given

Principal Denise Dickinson Due to the small population of students at this district school it is impossible to maintain a robust and current collection of items. There are only about 10-15 elementary books added tot he collection each year, with the majority of books having been on the shelf for at least 10 years. It is very difficult to interest children here in reading because there is seldom anything new to read. The non-fiction collection became obsolete years ago and I have not been able to locate resources to upgrade it. All in all there is no part of our school library that is acceptable by modern library standards and it is only through extremely time-consuming inter-library-loans that I am able to maintain a slight level of interest in reading books for the elementary student population.
