Reading is the primary way I educate myself. It’s through historical fiction I can get a sense of time, place and culture. It’s with business books that I further our company’s success. It’s memoirs that help me better understand someone else’s journey. And lastly, it’s through fiction I can ...
In later elementary my favourite book was A Wrinkle in Time. This March I was able to share this memory with my two great nephews in Australia Ethan and Ryan. Then we went to the movie. Ethan wants a Canadian copy to have as his own.
Snuggling up on the sofa with my grandchildren reading stories I read to their mom and aunty when they were little girls gives me so much joy when I see that look on their faces as they get lost in the story as their mom and aunty did. Reading and sharing my favourite story memories with these ...
My Grandparents owned Seymour Books in North Vancouver for many years. So as a small child I visited the store often and fell in love with books. I was even the poster girl at 2yrs old. My children know that books are important to us and that they come from a book loving family. ❤️
My mom and my sister helped me fall in love with reading. My mom read us endless books as children, and my sister always had a book in her hands. They taught me books are magical places where anything can happen, or that you can learn so much that you didn't know.
Reading is a great way to transport yourself into the world of make believe. It allows me as an adult to be a kid when I read stories to my son, we change our voices and come up with different endings. Imagination is so important and I find it keeps us young at heart.
My earliest memory is of my mom reading a book and ignoring me. Basically, I had to start reading. What could be interesting enough to capture my mom's attention so absolutely? Turns out, books. Stories of all kinds. So, thank you to my mom for passing on the lovely habit of reading.
I love seeing children read
The books I loved the most were the Pookie Book series by Ivy L. Wallace. I loved the illustrations and the depictions of the woodland animals and forest life that the main character, Belinda, enjoyed. I enjoyed this series so much that I saved my birthday money to buy the books myself. I ...
I just can't help building our library! I love books!
I am blessed - I didn’t have one person who helped me fall in love with reading, I had a whole community. Reading was what we did at school, and what we did at home. We read for pleasure, we read for information, we read because that is what was expected! My parents loved to read and my mom ...

Reading is important to me because it helps me decompress after a long day at work. I can pick up a book & escape into another time & place. I’ve always loved to read & I believe that all kids should be able to go to their school library & have lots of different types of books to choose from.

When I was a young child my favourite book was "Mr. Pine's Purple House". I loved so much because it was the first book I could read all by myself. I remembered it so fondly, I bought a copy for my daughter. I love reading it to her, we both enjoy the pictures, story and message. As she begins ...
