Ernest Cumberland Elementary School

Alliston, Ontario 74 / 575 Books Given

Principal Greg Blakeley Our school, currently in its 26th year, welcomed over 150 new students studying French Immersion last year in Grades 1 to 4. We are a school of close to 600 students. Due to the age of our school, we are in need of replacing many books that are outdated and/or in various states of disrepair. Our students love to read. They get excited when we are able to purchase new books for our school. We were able to start our french library last year and would like to continue to increase that area of our library. In order to meet the literacy needs of all of our students, we will need to engage in a significant fundraising effort to support the purchase of both English and French books, both fiction and non-fiction. All students need to see themselves in the books that are available to them in our library. Partnering with the Adopt a School program would have a significant impact on our ability to support the achievement and well-being of our new and existing students.

Favourite books Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series, books about animals, hockey books, Robert Munsch books, Scaredy Squirrel books, Elephant and Piggie books and all graphic novels!
