Bishop David Motiuk

Edmonton, Alberta 204 / 780 Books Given

Principal Terry Volk Bishop David Motiuk Catholic School Opened in September, 2017. We are continuing to grow substantially in the 2018-2019 School Year. Since it is a brand new school, we have been required to continually purchase all new furniture, teacher resources, technology, books, and much more. Unfortunately, since the necessities, such as student and teacher desks, computers, and teacher resources cost a significant amount of money, we have very little money left over to purchase books for our classrooms. Since Bishop David Motiuk is a school accommodating pre-kindergarten to grade 9 students, we need to purchase a wide range of books in order to offer an appropriate selection for all of our students. We understand the importance of providing not only quality literature for our students, but substantial choice regarding the genre of books available. Our first year participating in the Adopt-A-School program we were extremely successful and able to purchase books for our school library. This year we would like to focus on building classroom libraries. Currently, we will not be able to do so, based on our highly limited financial resources. We would be thrilled to be considered for the Adopt a School program for a second year and would be committed to working with Chapters/Indigo, as well as our staff, parents and community members, to build classroom libraries that our students will enjoy for years to come.
