Principal Jennifer George Our library is in desperate need of new, current reading resources. As a dual track school (both English and French Immersion) our library has to split their budget between English and French resources. French materials typically cost significantly more than comparable English materials. The new books and resources that we manage to purchase are well used and read to the point of tatters.
72% of our library books are older than 10 years (HWDSB circulation data)
17% of the books in our library are older than 30 years (HWDSB circulation data)
less than 10% of our library resources are french non fiction and half of those are over 30 years old (HWDSB circulation
data)

50% of our english Grade 5 students are on an Individual Education Plan (IEP) (spec ed data)
30% of our English grade 4 students are on an Individual Education Plan (IEP) (spec ed data)

36% of our junior students indicated that they do not like reading
We are a ministry designated OFIP school ( Ontario Focused Intervention Partnership)
only 10% of our English grade 1/2 students were reading at benchmark levels in September (school data)
