Grenoble Public SchoolNorth York, Ontario 228 / 950 Books Given
Principal Mikki Hymus
Grenoble is a large, high need public school located in Flemingdon Park with close to 1000 ELL students, speaking over 80 languages from around the world. Our school is at 140% capacity and there are not enough books for our large student population. What makes Grenoble special is our high population of Roma-Slovak and refugee ELL students. As newcomers, our students also lack access to books at home, or have never even seen printed text before. These students have come from war torn countries, or have fled their homes for a better future. We need to provide them with a chance at a better future, by giving them the gift of literacy. Grenoble's library collection is dated and many of our books are damaged from over circulation.
The Adopt A School program, will be able to provide an opportunity to help our school provide books to all our students and give them a meaningful future.
