Daerwood School

Selkirk, Manitoba 440 / 110 Books Given

Principal Kristine Friesen Daerwood School has a small population, therefore the amount of our annual budget is directly affected. Both our early reader picture books and non-fiction section are aging and well-loved (tattered). I would like to give our students the opportunity to get excited about reading and be able to engage them with books that are current and of interest. Books with yellowed, stained pages and with pictures from the 80's & 90's generally will not circulate. However, we are reluctant to do a proper weeding of our collection, as it would be a shock to both our students and staff. I would like to ensure that we have new resources to replace the old ones, before we retire our outdated and damaged books. Thank you in advance for supporting the Daerwood School library! Reading = Academic Success, which is what we want for our students and future leaders. Sincerely, Terri Stewart - Library Clerk

Favourite books Graphic Novels of any kind, but in particular the students enjoy Raina Telgeimeier, author of Drama, Smile, Sisters. These books are circulated so much that they are quite worn and needing of constant repair.
