Mundare SchoolMundare, Alberta 24 / 170 Books Given
Principal William Korec
We are Mundare School, proud home of the Mundare Dragons; approximately 170 wonderful students from Kindergarten to Grade 8! We are located in beautiful rural Alberta only 45 minutes East of Edmonton and are proud to be a part of Elk Island Public Schools.
Because we are a very small rural town, community is hugely important to us, so we invite our community to join us in all aspects of our literacy celebrations and dreams; from Read In Week celebrations and Adopt A School in October, to participation in local Arts Festivals in March and Poem In Your Pocket month in May. We encourage and welcome our community members to come in and share their love of reading and literature with us.
Our staff and students love to spend time in our "Leaning Commons" (library) to relax with their music, do research on their chrome book, read the latest novel a or gather as a group to work on a project. To support this enriching environment of access to the latest web-links, books and resources, we need the support of not only our Mundare School family, but terrific organizations like Chapters Indigo. Last year our school and community put over 10 brand new books on our shelves and in addition to the books we are still able to purchase from our "adoption" 2 years ago, our kiddos will have lots of new and exciting adventures to dive into!
This year again we stand by our passion for all forms of literacy and ask for your support in building a strong nation of hungry readers!
Our top five favourite books are:
The Book With No Pictures by B J Novak
Wonder by R J Palacio
Drama by Raina Telgemeier
Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone by J K Rowling
Anything about Dinosaurs! :)
