Georgia Avenue Elementary

Nanaimo, British Columbia 5 / 350 Books Given

Principal Lisa Frey This mission of our school library is to do whatever it takes to get books into the hands of our students. This means forgiving lost book fines (many of our students cannot afford to replace lost or damaged books) so that we can keep loaning books out to our students. Our student population is also transient so many of our books move with the children when they switch rental properties. Our books are circulated often (over 900 circulations each week) and many books in our popular series are in poor repair. With only $2.86 allotted per student it is difficult to keep up with replacing damaged copies AND bringing in new and engaging titles for our young readers.
