Principal Mrs Anna Sanalitro
We are a bilingual inner city school and we promote literacy in both languages across all grade levels from preK to grades 6.
We will be hosting a bi-annual book fair and will receive some book donations based on our sales at these events; unfortunately, it is not sufficient.
Last year, in the month of February we hosted the "I love to read" month, which encourages students to read in different settings or to read to/or with family members. During that month we also have a book swap, where students brought in books and exchanged them with each other.
A great percentage of our students rely on our library for reading material during the year and with school budgets constantly being reduced, we feel that we would highly benefit from "!ndigo Love of Reading Foundation."
With your help, we can build our collection with current, diverse, and engaging books which will motivate learning and inspire a love of reading.

Reading exposes you to a world of imagination, showing you nothing is impossible in this world. Through reading, you expose yourself to new things, new information, new ways to solve a problem, and new ways to achieve one thing. In short, it expands the mind and develops the imagination.
One of my favourite books as a child was “The House That Jack Built”. I don’t remember the first time I heard the story as I was too young to remember, but my parents have recounted on numerous occasions, the number of times that they had to read it to me. When I finally began to read on my ...
Reading for me, is my escape. You can have a hard day, an argument with a loved one, frustration at work or school, but open a book and your world disappears. Suddenly, you are transported into the life, time and circumstances of a hero or heroine. You are brave, strong, fearless, kind, ...
Books help nurture the evolving minds of our children. We must help provide them with words and stories to spark their imagination.
Books--the gateway to the imagination.....
“I’ll love you forever” by Robert Munich. This book changed our story reading forever! When I first read this book to my oldest daughter I found myself completely choked up. My daughter noticed and it was an opportunity for us to learn about putting words around emotions, something that ...
Growing up with an elementary school teacher for a mother, books in our house were a sacred commodity. Never to be disrespected, purposely torn or damaged, or thrown out. Of the many books found in our house one, in particular, holds a special place in my heart. A book given to me as a gift ...
Books are the windows to new worlds and new ideas. Enjoy your reading time!
I will be forever grateful to PET school for feeding my kids passion to read. A wonderful inclusive environment where every soul can be who they are and express themselves through books characters.
École Pierre Elliott Trudeau Elementary School is the wonderful real home for the kids from all the world.
Big thanks and respect to the principal Anna and all the team there!
My favourite book as a child was "The Paper Bag Princess" by Robert Munsch. I loved the fact that Elizabeth was a take charge princess who went out to save her prince from a ferocious dragon, only to realise at the end that she was a strong individual who didn't need a prince after all. I ...
Coming from a low income family, we were unable to purchase any books but my love of reading came from my third grade teacher Ms Jennings, who got to know me and found out that I liked mystery books. She introduced me to the Nancy Drew books in the library at school and I got hooked.
