Principal Ms. Margie Trovao We are a small school located in east Vancouver near Hastings Park. Many of our students come from low-income homes and fundraising options for our school are therefore limited. Our school library is in desperate need of books for our students. Our mission is to improve literacy skills for all students with a focus on reading for primary and non-fiction writing for intermediate students. We have a reading recovery program and a one-to-one volunteer reading program for children who need assistance. Our school has an incredibly diverse population of wonderful students with varying degrees of reading skills and abilities. We have a goal of making all of our students above-average readers. Our parents, teachers, support workers and librarian are all ready to take on the task. The librarian recently gave the space a makeover that included reorganizing and new furniture, and a full inventory and mass weeding. What we need now are new books for our children.
The students here really love:

Our library rocks!
We dearly love the amazing teachers, staff and school community of A R Lord Elementary. A wonderful experience for students and their families.
My sister has 4 boys. When I had my son, she introduced me to the book Owl Moon. It was a book her husband read to her boys. He’d make the call of the owl. It’s become a favourite in our house and for my sisters grandkids.
We love our school library!!!
