Pine Grove
St. Catharines, Ontario 107 / 365 Books GivenPrincipal Brad Digweed Pine Grove promotes reading starting in Kindergarten. At Pine Grove, beginning in JK students are taught sounds and letters and participate in a voluntary take home reading program whereby books are sent home from the school for parents to read with their children, or be read to by their children on a nightly basis. Beginning in Grade 1, students are encouraged to read both at school and up to 10 minutes a night for "homework" with their families. Grades 3 - 8 partake in age appropriate novel studies. We are in our fifth year of being a JK to Grade 8 school and are still in the process of updating our library with books for both our youngest readers and our oldest! We are always in need for books for both the school library and classroom libraries! This year our library team is continuing work on a "makerspace" where students can create, invent and learn! Our school population is continuing to grow and this year's graduating class is the largest one yet!
