Notre Dame Catholic Elementary School

Cobourg, Ontario 14 / 270 Books Given

Principal Caroline Graham Notre Dame is a small but loving school, that encompasses a diverse economic community. We truly are a family that thrives on supporting each other academically, emotionally and spiritually. Notre Dame was formally a Catholic High School. When a new high School was built, our school closed down and resources were split between 2 local elementary schools. Fortunately, the school re-opened in 1999; however, the library was outdated and depleted. It is our hope to provide to all students engaging reading materials to support the struggling readers at our school with new up to date books. Our classroom libraries are extremely limited and teachers are trying to share leveled readers amongst students to support home literacy programs. Our school goal is to increase literacy scores; however without the resources and budget, this will be very difficult to achieve. Many of our readers are old and in very poor condition. We desperately need more levelled reading books, especially at the late primary grades. For our older students, we are in need of high interest,low-vocabulary reading materials to build self-confidence and skill development. As our students move forth on their educational journey, it is our hope to truly make a difference in the lives of our students by fostering their love for reading and our belief that quality reading materials will foster success in our students. Please adopt Notre Dame and make a difference in the lives of our students!
