Reading was my passion as a child and continues to be an enjoyment in my life, which means that many books, both for children and adults have had an impact on my life. I think we can learn something from each and every book we read whether it is non-fiction, sci-fi, romance, mystery or good old adventurous fiction. If I had to narrow it down and pick which children's book had the biggest impact on my life it would be between "The Giving Tree" and "Oh The Places You'll Go". As a kid when reading The Giving Tree the message didn't really stick with me as much as it did when I reread it after entering high school. It teaches many lessons about being kind and what it means to love someone unconditionally as well as what can happen if you let people use you without anything in return. Oh The Places You'll Go has had a different impact on me. It has inspired me to reach for the stars and instilled confidence in me. It is a story that tells you, you are capable of doing whatever you want. And it is a story that I have shared countless times with the youth that I have worked with, giving them the confidence that they can accomplish things in life. I know the question asked which book singular but I couldn't pick which one meant more to me as they impacted me in different ways.
