Last year our parent society funded 80 new books for our library. The collection was, and still is, in need of new books to engage readers, especially those who are reluctant. The first week of school my son came home excited about the books in the school library. After his first library class I asked if he got the book he wanted. “No”, he said, “they were flying off the shelves”, but he found another book. That night he ‘secretly’ stayed up late to read his book. I let him. All kids should be given the opportunity to love reading, and that starts with having the right books for everyone. I am excited about what this program will do for our school.
