When I waa a young girl my family did not have a lot of money but they have time. My family was my grandparents. They were the main reason books were my childhood treasures. They both took turns each night read me nursery rhymes Then when i was old enough they introduced me ro our local library where I discovered The Bobbsey Twins. I was in wonderment of my library card and slept with it under my pillow. I owed this card my creative self as it gave me the power to dream and become a character in the book, to solve mysteries. I would visit library regularly and stay there for hours and enjoy being surrounded by the smell of books, and the opportunity to hang out with the Bobbsey Twins. Many evenings my grandmother kissed me goodnight and I would wait a few minutes and then I would gather my book and my flashlight and read under the covers into the wee hours of the morning trying to figure out Nan and Bert’s adventure before it would be revealed. Today I take this same passion for books like the Bobbsey Twins into my classroom and expose my students to the same kind of love for books.
