Who helped you fall in love with reading and how?

My parents instilled the importance of reading to me at a very young age. As a child growing up in Guyana, they read to me every day, even as a baby. Once we migrated to Canada, they saw how much I loved to read, so while other kids were asking for toys, I was always at Coles asking for a new book. LOL. My parents fostered this love for reading, even into university. This may be part of why I became a teacher - I love the different worlds that a book can take you to. My wish is for my students (and all kids) to have this same love and appreciation of reading.
