I am a former teacher and now a school librarian so I know the importance of getting students excited about reading. There are many books that are important for a library to have for a variety of reasons (i.e. books that are high quality literature, books with simple repetition, books with engaging plots, etc.). The books I will mention here are the ones I think are important in terms of getting students excited about being in the library and excited about reading. These books are the Guinness Book of World Records, the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, and the I Can Read series of books about superheroes. In my school, these are the kinds of books that generate the most excitement and, in turn, the most desire to read. Libraries should possess these kinds of books for students to borrow and enjoy.
