My mother, Anne Leslie, helped me fall in love with reading. She would take my brother and me to the Brampton Public Library every weekend and have us select books. As a family, we would read together in our living room on Saturdays, usually the newspaper, as my mom would read it each day from cover to cover! She truly modelled the love of reading for me in that she also took books out, especially biographies, and shared what was in them, with a few details removed, I'm sure! My mother created a culture of reading in our household and now that is what I am trying to do with my own sons and my students.
