My love of reading has been with me since an early age. As a child, my mother had an array of books always available and we were often at our local library. We still are- my children and I are frequent visitors at our local library. I grew up going back and forth on the ferry between divorced (and bitter if we are being honest) parents and books were my refuge. I remember reading The Secret Garden in grade 1 and the librarian gave it to me because I borrowed it so many times. It was a treasured possession. I remember reading Kit Pearson books in grade 6, staying up all night and weeping as I read them. I remember Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile and so many more. These books felt like companions and as a kid when nothing felt stable or secure, I had my escape into books. I am still an avid reader and I truly believe reading can help you grow and learn at any age. It is my hope that kids in Cedar have access to many of the amazing books that they might not otherwise be able to read.
