A few years ago I began reading the Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events to my children. At the time, we had just moved and had no television. My children were so absolutely enthralled by the story that this became a scheduled storytime in our house, even after we had ourselves reconnected with the land of television. We would curl up together in bed or on the sofa in PJs and wrapped in blankets and enjoy the story together. At times, my older son would take a turn reading some of the story to his younger brothers and myself. When it came down to a choice of TV or us reading this series, they always chose reading! I think this says something about how much quality family reading time truly means to our children.
