I can remember as a small child, reading Richard Scarry books with my mom when I was learning to read. As I got better at it, we alternated chapters of my all time Favorite kids story. The book - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Every kid loved hearing about chocolate before bed. It taught that no matter where you came from, everyone got the respect they deserved. Maybe that’s why I loved it. Because no matter where you came from, whether you had two moms, two dads or just one of each, you learn that even the Oompa Loompa’s got respect. Loved the book myself and I gave it to every little reader I ever knew.
