Three books/author series that every school library should have are:
1) Mo Willems - Elephant and Piggy and the Pigeon series. The books are fun for kids to read and they are also good books to use to model reading with expression. Speech bubbles and bold text are used through the book to tie in with writing lessons. Students love to create their own stories based on the Elephant and Piggy and Pigeon series.
2) Brown Bear, Brown Bear - by Eric Carle. Lots of rhyming, repetition, and prediction. Great book to encourage students to chime in and engage with the text.
3) Chicka Chicka Boom Boom - Kids love to read along, saying the alphabet letters and then chime in... "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!"
