Growing up, I was that kid who would read every chance I had! Taking stacks of books home from the public library was a weekly thing. I remember being chastised for sneaking a book on my lap, hidden under the table, during dinner time. Through my teaching career, I’ve seen the impact that having access to books (or not) has played in a child’s life. When reading is a priority and having adults around you modelling a love of reading. Now, with young kids of my own, I aim to pass on that love of reading. Sadly, finding the time to read for pleasure on my own has been drastically reduced but I am making it a priority to find time daily to read so my children will continue loving books as they grow. After all, there’s nothing better than snuggling up with a little one on your lap to read a favourite story.
