John Stubbs is the only full K-8 French Immersion school in one of the most rapidly growing school districts in BC. The school is full and the needs of the Library Learning Commons are great. Many of the books are in need of replacement, but with tight budgets, changing curriculum and French books that cost a great deal more that English books, it can be a struggle to make ends meet.
I have three kids; all students (either former or current) at John Stubbs. I have volunteered at the school and am now working there as one of the Teacher Librarians. I feel very fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful community; from the friends my kids have made and the parents I have met, to the terrific teachers who have supported my kids' learning and have now become my colleagues.
The Library Learning Commons is a space that all students in the school visit at least once a week. It is my hope that this year, the allocated budget of $4 per student for acquiring new books and resources can be at least doubled through this program.
