The three books that I think every library should have are: The Giving Tree, Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes, as well as Malala's Magic Pen.

The reasons I feel strongly about these books/ stories are because they all come from various cultures and are fantastic books that teach that reading is more than just experiencing a story. Books like The Giving Tree promote conversations and sharing about empathy, community, and friendship. Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes is a book that talks about resiliency, global projects started from one small child, and the need for hope and peace in our world. Lastly Malala's Magic Pen is such a beautiful and important book about girls' empowerment and introduces students to an incredible young hero, Malala Yousafzai.
